Hora is a 24-hour period cycle ruled by the 7 planets Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Sun. Hora starts from Sunrise and ends on the following Sunrise. It is a one-hour duration of a day, ruled by a particular planet. In a week, on each of the seven days, starting from the sunrise or sunset time, there are 24 horas ruled by the seven planets.

Depending on the ruling planet the horas are either favourable or unfavourable for various actions. The Hora is used to select a favourable time for a task. It’s the most useful and effective Muhurta tool (time management tool) in electional Astrology.
